Sebastián (b. 1947) is a Mexican sculptor born in Camargo, Chihuahua, internationally recognized for his monumental public sculptures. Since the late 1960s, he has developed a distinctive sculptural language grounded in geometry, mathematics, and the constructive principles of kinetic art. His early experiments with transformable or foldable structures explored movement and spatial perception, later evolving into large-scale urban monuments made primarily of steel. Sebastián’s work ranges from small-format sculptures to monumental public installations placed in cities across the Americas, Europe, and Asia. With more than 120 solo exhibitions worldwide, his practice has played a central role in redefining contemporary monumental sculpture in Latin America and integrating abstract geometry into the public urban landscape.
