Vicente Gandia

Biografía

Vicente Gandía was a Spanish artist who made Mexico his home, creating a distinctive artistic style over a 50-year career. His work featured simple objects and landscapes with subtle, moving elements, drawing inspiration from Cézanne and Matisse while adding unique interpretations. He exhibited extensively across the Americas and Europe, with works in prestigious collections including the Museum of Modern Art in New York and Barcelona. The UNAM holds several of his paintings. Gandía received notable recognition, including honorable mentions and prizes from the Mexican Plastic Arts Salon, and a retrospective at the Cortés Palace in Cuernavaca in 1994.
